Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
So linked with Felipe Anderson.
Watched him last night. He's looked effing brilliant. And apparently he's been the best player in Serie A alongsdie Tevez/Pogba this season.
Not sure if we need an AM but I wouldn't say no to him.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Pjanic is the big name CM we're consistently linked with to replace Gerrard.
finally someone who can score free-kicks again.
Vietto and Ings to replace Lambert and Borini would be ace. Net spend could even be zero in this case if Sunderland go mad again

Well if we assume that Lambert, Borini and Gerrard are leaving at least and we replace them with Pjanic, Ings and Anderson I would consider that a very successful window.

Lambert will not be leaving. He is in the last year of his contract and isn't on a big wage either.El Cujo wrote:Well if we assume that Lambert, Borini and Gerrard are leaving at least and we replace them with Pjanic, Ings and Anderson I would consider that a very successful window.
Don't understand how we are going to fit-in Pjanic, Anderson, Henderson, Coutinho and Lucas/Emre???

^ Lambert will almost certainly leave.
He won't get a single minute if he stays..he knows it. realized his childhood dream and will go to a mid-table, bottom half club IMO.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Hopefully so Sep, he'll be useless next season.
I would be very glad if all 3 of Balotelli, Lambert, and Borini were sold.
Vietto/Lacazette, Origi coming back, and maybe Ings on a free + whatever solidarity compensation we have to pay Burnley would be very good indeed.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I really don't think Lambert's leaving. He wouldn't be a starter even at a mid-table club, he's got zero reasons to leave. It's the same thing as with Kolo, signed on a two-year contract to be a back-up for those couple of years. Not "let's give it a year and if he can fight himself into the playing squad, only then he'll stay". Lambert's staying in his bit-part role, I'm sure of it.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
It makes sense Art and probably will pan out like you say. The biggest reason I want Lambert gone is because he's taking a spot in the squad that could otherwise be put to use for another (better) player.

He will stay for another year (at his dream club) and retire, IMO.Natalie Portman wrote:^ Lambert will almost certainly leave.

^ no way Ifty. We're very heavily linked with Ings and Vietto.
Borini and Balo are almost certain to leave. and I am willing to bet Lambert will either go back to Saints (squad option)...or a newly promoted club. Hell, Villa were gonna pay 5 MILLION for him last month
Lambert won't retire. he's only 33....he can play until 38, Kevin Davies and Heskey are both very effective in championship and both inferior to Lambert by far !!
don't forget. footballers need to make as much $$ as possible before retirement. it's their job. they need to secure their future and all.

Well Anderson plays mostly as a forward/winger (on the left or right side) but is pretty versatile which fits Rodgers quite well. Top class depth would go a long way to helping us out in cup competitions. Imagine that 2nd leg against Besiktas but with Henderson and Coutinho available (or players of that calibre available). We would probably still be in the EL.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
The beautiful thing about Vietto is that he can play both as a #9 and a #10.
So he'll fit perfectly in our current system either as the ST in front of Coutinho and Sterling or as one of the 2 behind Sturridge.
Lacazette on the other hand (though he can play as a wide forward) don't see how he could operate as a 10 so if we go with the same formation we would have to rotate Sturridge and him.
@Ifthy, I don't think it's enough if it's only Sturridge, Origi, Lambert +1 for a title challenge that we all hope for. Maybe if the +1 is a world class ST like Suarez but we know it won't be a world class player but someone with extreme potential.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I wanted a proven striker when Suarez left and thought Mandzukic would be a great addition filling-in for or rotating with Sturridge.
What if that +1 is someone like Lacazette???@Ifthy, I don't think it's enough if it's only Sturridge, Origi, Lambert +1 for a title challenge that we all hope for. Maybe if the +1 is a world class ST like Suarez but we know it won't be a world class player but someone with extreme potential.
Ings, Vietto and Origi all are in the same category: promising but unproven quality. In other words, once more we will be investing in numbers rather than in quality.^ no way Ifty. We're very heavily linked with Ings and Vietto.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Vietto is way ahead of Origi and Ings in his development. He's playing in a tougher league and has taken it by storm. He doesn't necessarily play the lone striker for Villarreal either. His overall play is very good so sometimes he plays the SS for them.
As far as Lacazette being the +1, I'm always skeptical in counting Sturrdige as a given. No matter how much I want to believe his injury problems are behind him it's hard to ignore the elephant in the room. When we are making these assumption of our STs depth for next season, I always keep Sturridge as a luxury player to our season as his availability is not certain until proven otherwise. So Ifty, think of it as Lacazette, Origi, and Lambert for majority of the games. God knows how long it might take Lacazette and/or 20 year old Origi to adjust. So yeah once again we'll be left with relying on Lambert who will be older and slower next season. The nice thing about having Ings as the 4th choice provides leverage for that sort of situation.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
First get Hendo and Sterling tied
I would keep Balotelli, I think he deserves little more time, he himself knows this is his last chance so we should keep him, till Januray at least.
I would try if Lewa is available. If we are in CL, we might get him. If not Lewa, try to get Lacazette. Also Vietto would be nice addition, that is what youtube tells me. Borini and Lambert both can leave.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Oh Lewandowski would be a dream. Him not settling at Bayern might actually make getting a tiny possibility. But that's only if Bayern wanted to sell. No chance otherwise.
I would be very very okay if the target list was as follows for the ST in the summer:
Option 1: Lewandowski
Option 2: Lacazette
Option 3: Vietto

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
If you go into deep lying Lacazatte numbers, his ratios seem unsustainable. He has scored with ridiculous shot% ratio and a lot from outside the box. think he's City bound, myself.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
sorry, you mean he takes lots of shots or you mean he has less number of shots to score goals If he goes to City, Jovetic has to be sold, I think Jovetic will go back to some Serie A club.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
My only wish/priority is to get a proven striker. He doesn't have to be some star or even an established player. Someone with 2-3 years consistent games (and goals) at the highest level.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
@Heil, He's saying that Lacazette takes low number of shots but his conversion rate is insane and most of his shots are from outside the box which is unsustainable in practice. Though I agree, what he's doing is going to be very very difficult to replicate with the sort of efficiency he is doing this season, there's nothing to suggest he won't continue being a 25 goal per season striker.
We don't need him to be a Suarez for us, but provide Sturridge like quality which he is capable of.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
if he is a player who plays on the shoulders of defenders and gets inside the six yard box, he is welcome. He is young anyways so I think BR can mould him into a player we need

Neither party (Bayern or Lewandowski) has any intention or incentive to part company.
Option 2: Lacazette
He had a very good and a great season. Not sure if he is really great or just stat-padding in a not-so-great league. If he is really a great talent, it's more than likely that some rich club will snap him up.
Option 3: Vietto
Doing great. But it's also his first season at highest level.
