He has turned into some kind of beastly defender, two years ago i didnt see him this good with Porto. Easily the best in form defender in la LIGA imo.

And i struggle to think of another CB that is as brutish in his duel s yet clean at the same time, fast on distance and good in the air too. He played both Madrid and barca and hardly broke a sweat dominating his duels

i like otamendi, not just against madrid and barcelona, but he showed composure in this league campaign...he's one of those guys i say to myself "c'mon madrid let's go for him", but because he's not some big name, i know we won't....we'll wait till utd or someone signs him then after five years has been taken out of him we bring him in for 55 million, then get surprised that he doesn't have the pace and energy anymore...what do you expect, the dude's five years older and has been playing competitive footy. i don't know if he's the best, but he is someone i rate highly....and that's saying something, i don't just give my props out to any regular-jack just because he's got some ankle tape, and is heralded by the internet and pundits cos its the cool thing to do at that point...ortamendi's a defender i like, now let's see how he maintains that form over a long period

Maradona played him at fullback tbf, also I'm loath to rate someone on the back of a good season especially for a team not playing in the CL.

Nope and Schalke they are about as relevant as Swansea.

Not interested in someone until they play in the CL, all the major leagues have dropped off tenfold over last few years. No performance there is relevant.

Tbh realistically most have dropped but i do rate the CL KO stage as a good indication of overall quality.
