Liverpool officials have flown out to wrap up a deal for Barcelona attacker Adama Traore, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who is a target for Manchester United, was expected to join the Red Devils this summer, with United said to be set to pay his release clause.

But after they stalled on a deal, Liverpool have moved in and Spanish outlet RAC1 says senior Reds officials have travelled to Barcelona to wrap up a deal for the winger.

It's believed Liverpool will take him on-loan with a view to a permanent deal in 12 months' time.

Why would we sign Traore when we already have to accommodate Coutinho, Firmino, Ibe, Lallana, Markovic and Origi on top of guys like Ojo and Wilson waiting 'in the wings'. Unless he wants to play in our academy and thinks he can beat those guys out in the near future, but I'd say all of them (Wilson included) have a leg up on him right now.

Louis van Gaal has admitted Real Madrid's pursuit of David de Gea is causing tension between the Spaniard and Manchester United.

United have been in a stand-off with Madrid all summer, demanding defender Sergio Ramos in return for letting De Gea leave Old Trafford - a prospect which is looking increasingly unlikely.
Van Gaal has praised De Gea's attitude on two occasions this summer, but the Dutchman hinted that all was not well with the goalkeeper after the defeat to PSG.

"We have a situation that is not favourable for David de Gea, neither for us and neither for the club that, maybe, he wants to go," Van Gaal said.

When asked what the best solution was for all parties, Van Gaal said: "We have to wait and see. It is the same question as your predecessor."

We are 5 years late with this transfer though,should have happened in 2010 but Moratti didn't want to spend 13 mill on a LB.
