btw noticed The Comedian is Thomas Wayne. Great choice since he will fit in well when they do flashpoint paradox
- Spoiler:
- Can't see them doing a Flashpoint unless they're doing it as The Flash movie? Don't see them doing it for JL2.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
- Spoiler:
Yea it will definitely be for Flash. Just like Captain america: civil war is mini avengers. Flashpoint paradox is most likely to be that too.
Btw that dream sequence (or alternate timeline) of batman in the desert was unbelievably good. easily top 3 scene in the film.
When superman first appears infront of batman gave me goosebumps. i wasn't expecting him there lol.

Probably because you missed the tv spots and trailers
- Spoiler:
- Really hope they do some Flashpoint storyline for Flash. My favourite comic and DC animated movie. Ezra Miller looks amazing now btw.
Also the extended edition hopefully improves a lot of scenes. Can't see it not improving.
But seriously... Flashpoint.
Lauren Cohan as Joker? Aquaman v. Wonder Woman etc. Superman lock in with no sun etc Please make it happen ffs.
It won't though. I think there's a 5% chance.

Honestly depends on how the first wave of solo films and JL film does at the box office and amongst the audience.
I don't mind Snyder doing JL: Part 1. If George miller really is producing it then that's even better. But I think Snyder will have it a lot easier doing JL than he did with BvS. But unfortunately he has 70-30 hate level atm. So i guess its best if DC get someone else who would include black widow- Hulk esque scenes in their films to win over the audience

- Flash came back to prevent the Injustice part of the future because they need Superman in the fight against Darkseid I'd assume.
Yeah he's dead, but he's returning to finish the holy trinity of Jesus imagery.
Him dying helps the Suicide Squad film because you don't have to ask why Superman doesn't help. Wonder Woman is probably out researching recruits etc.
Also Superman dying made the villains come out because they aren't afraid anymore, I'd assume.

Deadpool is now the most sold superhero movie in Denmark that isn't a Spider-Man or Batman film.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Batman v Superman
- Spoiler:
- I went into this movie with low expectations and unsurprisingly, liked what I saw. Yes, that first half was rather slower than what I imagined it would be, but the imagery on display throughout the movie was rather good. Like RG, I also really liked the desert dream sequence. Really well done.
I am completely indifferent to Affleck's portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne. Same with Cavill's Superman. Hard to judge Gal Gadot's scenes since she's used sparingly, but I think she did well. I think the standalone Wonder Woman movie has an opportunity to do the character justice in a way not quite done before on the screen.
Jesse Eisenberg probably captured my attention the most. His take on Lex Luthor was a tad disorienting at first, but once you see just how sinister he is, I think he was clearly a great choice for that role. Charming on the surface yet nefarious underneath, that's Lex Luthor in a nutshell and I think he nailed that.
I continue to not like Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Still such a soapy portrayal of the character who is far stronger than given credit for. As big a fan as I am of Larry Fishburne, I still don't like him as Perry White. The role is beneath him given his ability as an actor, but I understand why he took the role. whereas J.K. Simmons was a natural fit for J.Jonah Jameson in the Maguire Spider man movies, that's down to his interpretation of the character. Just wish Fishburne had done more with White as he typically does with the roles he's known for.
All in all, a good movie, but never great.
Superman is clearly not dead, as evidenced by the rather painfully obvious final scene. The small spots for the Justice League were interesting at least.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Why does every DC movie feel as though its embarrassed by its heritage?
Much like its predecessor the one biggest success was the colour palette chosen... dull, washed out, and ultimately lacking in energy and life. Perfect choice for these movies so far.
In a vacuum, it's a flawed if presentable movie. Uneven pacing, weird editing (especially in the first 2/3rds), and a smattering of awkward and stilted dialogue are offset by solid action sequences and mostly good performances. But the characters... my god, the characters.
It's not Fant4stic bad, but it ain't good.

- Spoiler:
- Why make Lex a Joker-lite? It's not Lex, it's not menacing, it's not impactful... I wasn't particularly impressed with the choice of Eisenberg to play the role but honestly he did alright. The writing though, just wrong on basically every front.
Superman, one of the single most recognizable super heroes in existence, who's entire character is really built around this basic foundation of a how he's ultimately the most human and good-hearted and hopeful being in spite of his godlike power, spends the entire movie save a 10-minute or so period at the end staring around stoney-faced and acting jaded toward the world. Even in that last bit at the end the dialogue made it feel like Cavill's Superman was more embarrassed by what he was saying and doing, saving the world, than anything else.
And Batman, The Detective, a hero known for three things: 1) His intelligence and investigation skills, 2) his commitment to not killing or using guns, and 3) being a human without supernatural powers... runs around being repeatedly and easily tricked and manipulated, rolling up a body count that would make John Wick blink with machine guns, machine guns, and bigger machine guns, and is apparently some type of psychic who can see potential futures in his dreams.
And every single dream sequence felt like a "Thor in the Cave" scene from AoU. It's like they decided that they couldn't afford to be too subtle with the Darkside/Apokolips foreshadowing but had already made the rest of the film; so they just shoved in scenes for it as dreams with Flash & the Parademons.
It's not Fant4stic bad, but it ain't good.

Eisenberg was much better after a second viewing. If you consider him to be the real Lex' son it will become a better viewing experience. I still find the portrayal weird though.
Can't wait for the Justice League movie

- Spoiler:
- I really think we'll get a true to the real Superman and Batman next time around. Superman has finished his evolution and Batman has turned himself around after seeing Superman's sacrifice. He said "Men are still good" which I thought to him talking about himself.
Also the car in Suicide Squad no longer has machine guns, so there's that.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
20th Century Fox and director Josh Boone have reportedly found three members of The New Mutants, the studio's X-Men movie spin-off.
According to Hitfix, Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams "is attached now as Wolfsbane, better known as Rahne Sinclair," The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy will "be stepping up to play Illya Rasputin, aka Magik."
The site also claims Professor X star James McAvoy will "play a significant role in the film," and that X-Men: Apocalypse's young Storm, played by Alexandra Shipp, will also be a member of these New Mutants.
What’s more, the report says that Cannonball, Mirage and Sunspot are all featured characters.
Wolfsbane, whose real name is Rahne Sinclair, is a Scottish mutant who transforms into a wolf.
Although Magik’s mutant ability lets her teleport, her true power lies in the sorcery skills she learned after being raised in the parallel dimension, Limbo. She’s also the younger sister of the X-Men’s Colossus.

Chiwetel Ejiofor is fantastic. Love all of his movies.
I don't know a single thing about Doctor Strange so this should be interesting when it comes out.

Re: The Official Comicbook Movies Thread: Part 2
Watched BvS for the first time last night.
On top of all the pacing and writing deficiencies as the rest of you mentioned so I won't really get into that.
I can understand why the film got shitty reviews. They are introducing the universe on screen. Not everyone in the audience is going to be comic book readers. I'd wager majority of the viewing demographic won't be comicbook readers. They need to take a different approach to their assumptions that viewership will understand their plot nuances.
Anyways, my favorite part of the film was the soundtrack and WonderWoman.
- Spoiler:
- Not being a comic reader, the Knightmare scenes made no sense to me. Flash's cameo through the screen/portal was just so out of place.

I read in this thread something about Flash fighting in an Injutice war and to prevent that he came back to warn that Lois must survive. Do you think I knew this piece of information sitting there watching the film. The scene was so out of place man.

Also the meta-human file had 4 folders. Wonderwoman, Flash, Aquaman. Who was the 4th?

The dreams don't work any better in the flow of the movie even if you are a regular DC reader. They still feel out of place and leave the movie as a whole feeling disjointed when they appear.Don't call me James wrote:Watched BvS for the first time last night.

- If the Flash's appearance is meant to be a reference to Injustice then it's actually tying into that mediocre Mortal Kombat clone game rather than DC's main comic lines... which would be an odd decision to make.

- Cybrog. College athlete (generally American football) named Victor Stone who's father is a scientist working with very advanced materials, or in the case of this movie an alien device known as a Mother Box. Victor gets seriously injured, usually in some accident while visiting his father at the lab, and the only way to save him is to graft advanced technology onto his body (in this case the alien Mother Box). Generally he was a Teen Titans character in the past, but since DC's Nu52 reboot he's been pushed up into the Justice League instead.

Red, if you had a problem with the Batman "killing" thing, what do you have to say about this video?
It basically proves that every cinematic iteration of Batman ever has killed on screen. Some subtle, some not so subtle. The Knightmare sequence isn't present reality, so that doesn't count. And the Batmobile blasting at thugs....well let's just say Bale and Keaton did the same and sometimes worse. I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

I've been rather vocal in general on my general dislike for the Nolan trilogy and the previous films were also ultimately poor representations of the character, though coming when they did they were closer to the contemporary comic take on him than modern ones have been (gotta love the late 80s and 90s EXTREMEEEEE). Even then, the Tim Burton Batman films at least never felt as though they were embarrassed by their source material.

Fair enough then. Because I feel like one can't give the other movies a pass for Batman killing criminals and then decide to criticize this one for doing the same. There's a good explanation for why they went that route and how I think it'll be by the JL movie but I'll just leave it at that.
