This squad is sure as hell better than Mazzarri's. Watch the games then. Insigne can be selfish but he also provides. He leads Serie A in assists. The fact that he takes that many chances and STILL provides tells you how much Napoli creates.

Their team was absolute crap back then lmao, we dominated them with a midfield of Muntari-Ambrosini-Boateng, Bojan and Robinho were gliding thru their defense and setting up ES with goals.

You don't have to take into consideration the quality of the team as a barometer, look at the quality of the opponents. Cavani faced Nesta, TS, Samuel, Lucio, Barzagli, Benatia, prime Surag Zapata etc

What notable defenses are there now besides Juve? You could make a case for Inter, but they have crap fullbacks. Maybe Benatia's Roma? (Wasn't that when he had 14 goals season end?)

Higuain 15/16 28 goals (26 serie a) 9 games to go.

They played in the same competitions to the same stages. He sure doesn't look like smashing anything. Only in the league can he outscore him. Cavani put out numbers like that 3 years in a row for napoli.

Higuain is  simply more complete if we just take an objective look at each players attributes  imo  .

After 3 years of watching Cavani's dogshit controls , shitty passes ,clumsy runs ,  and the obligatory weekly  missed sitter and one on one at PSG , i just don't see what Cavani does better .
Goals are important  , but they shouldn't be used as the sole metric to judge a striker . i mean Makaay outscored Ronaldo the year Madrid won La Liga , doesn't mean he was the better player .

Yes but how much of that is down to them all breaking through at the same time or down to Sarri being great at creating disciplined defenses with good cover form the midfield? I would use Leicester as a parallel here, they have conceded far less goals than last season, but I'm not about to claim that Huth and Simpson are very good players.

It feels weird to have someone vs Higuain, and that guy not being Karim :sad:

Really now, Ghoulam has always been excellent for Napoli. Much better defender then your boy Alba at barca.

And Koulibaly is very solid for the most part.

Once Higuain eventually smashes Cavani's goalrecord i never want to hear that overrated fluke in the same breath as Pipita again.

Yep we don't know that. I don't watch Leicester that often, but Rainieri's 4-4-2 seems a lot safer than Sarri's 4-3-3. A big part of it is definitely due to Sarri's work and his Empoli defended similarly, but it can't be all. Valdifiori came with him to Napoli and the gap in quality with Jorginho is clear. Chiriches also looks like a scrub and Maggio has no place. Maybe you are right and they drop off later, but for now the players look good. Koulibaly will attract a lot of attention and bigger clubs than napoli could use Hysaj and Ghoulam as fullbacks.
