De Bruyne is the worst 80M€ player out there

We already have a few of them in Ribery,Robben, Costa and Coman.

De bruyne is quality. He just had an off day yesterday thats all and Rojo was on top of his game (as he is that kind of a player who can boss even the best players on his day and the next day can turn to utter shite even against mediocre players)
Will take kdb over hazard.

On the other hand sterling is a fraud.

I don't think anyone ever thought De Bruyne was an 80m player. The German media was 90% "OMG 80 million for Wolfsburg!" and only 10% "Poor Wolfsburg losing de Bruyne" as well. Of course that was brilliant business, anything above 25 to 30m was hilariously overpaying.

He's not bad, mind you, but oh lordie those EPL expectations, gotta love it.

Edit: To be clear; De Bruyne is very, very good, and even good enough to be a key player in a top team's offense. I just think that 80m price tag makes people think he's like two Özils, or like 90% Messi, which he's not.

A transfer fee has nothing to do with the quality of a player tbh. Its just a matter of supply and offer.

It doesn't have nothing to do with it, as it drives demand; but yeah, quality doesn't do much to influence supply; meaning:
Better players are more expensive.
But players that are offered on transfer windows where there's few players on offer, are even more expensive yet.

He is a great player and probably the 3rd best AM in the game. A player is worth what the clubs are willing to offer. The inflated market is a different matter

Some players, especially young ones, have bad games here and there. It's not surprising. KdB is a stud and I would take him over Hazard for example any day.

There are a lot of elements to his game that are very nice.

Look at his last 10 games even and he has 6 goals and 3 assists for club and country. Pretty impressive for an AM on a new team, and internationally it's always difficult.

Would have loved to have him at Liverpool.

Who cares about the price ? Players has little to say in that matter. KDB is a very good player and one of the best in his position. Period.

In all fairness, his transfer fee genuinely was out of Kevin's control so to say he is the worst 80 million transfer signing is really harsh.

Speaking of harsh, it is best to wait till the end of the season to judge a player's impact throughout the season though I must admit, whatever Kevin did at Wolfsburg to acquire this great reputation I don't see it so far.

That being said, Free should be more patient when calling someone the worst transfer ever. Best to wait till at least he finishes this season.

The thing is, as far as I can see de Bruyne is with City since a couple of months and has either scored or assisted in pretty much every game he played for them.
He IS already having an impact.
He obviously didn't on Sunday, so somebody watches that game and makes a thread

So far his impact was very good, basically if they will go on in CL it's because of him . And it means the money spent for him is compensated easily from CL money.
For me his best quality is the effectiveness, the being concrete.
Basically he is not esthetically pleasing doesn't catch you the eye as Hazard but  he is really effective and this year easily more than his  fellow countryman

Yep. That's the thing when I try to explain to others why I like KdB better than Hazard. Hazard is flashy, he is smart and he opens up a lot of space but KdB is direct, intelligent and I find makes much more of the ball when he has it and when he's involved in the play.

Look at his body of work and not one game and anyone can see in today's day and age of endless amounts of money that if you can afford to buy him, then you buy him. He would likely start in any team in the world.

I haven't seen too much of him at City but from what I have seen he's been pretty good.

I prefer to wait until the end of the season to judge a player who's just moved. I find it's slightly more reliable than watching a game or maybe two.

Free_cat you should give some credit to Rojo, he basically nullified De Bruyne to ghost status.

And I agree about Martial, looked the best player on the pitch on Sunday. Love this kid.

no this is the type of signing that helps inflate the market - not a by-product of one.

City played much better with the set-piece assist-merchant on the bench. Good game from Navas and Sterling, good wingers who can drible and didn't cost 80 miliom euro.
