Who do you want as our next manager?
Re: Next Manager thread
Used to laugh at Balague but he is Tier 1 for Arsenal since Sanllehi's appointment, it's clear that he gets Arsenal news from him or someone around him. We need to look out for him in the transfer window.

Re: Next Manager thread
It literally came out of nowhere. But credit Ballague for breaking with this. I assume his connections at Sevilla probably told him that.
All the Mulars and AFCPlugs of twitter though
But yea it does look like it was a drastic change of decision. I don't think it was kept under the radar on purpose because that really doesn't make sense since it's not like we were signing Bale or something. Ivan must have a change of heart in the last minute.

Would be risky trying to do this with Mustafi though

Re: Next Manager thread
Okay. Now you guys are more positive in comparison to Sina and Jay's early show of negativity.
I'm totally on board. Let's give out positive energy, even if he gets of to a slow start, let's stick behind him. Because I do think the langauge barrier will be something for him to overcome first before we start really seeing signs of improvement. And who knows, maybe after a season or two, he will be able to create a managerial/coaching philosophy for himself and the new Arsenal. What I also really like is that he is capable of playing counter attacking and possession based football. Wenger used to be King of the former back in his prime days, but he severely lacked to implement a genuine counter attacking style in our team, especially seen in big away games in recent years. If Emery can get the right squad of players within a year or two, and then get consistency across to the players of what he wants, then perhaps maybe we can adopt a more stylistic home gameplan, and a more organised and aggressive counter attacking gameplan in tougher away games.
Let's go! I'm pumped and looking forward to the future.

Re: Next Manager thread
It's only the Sun, but there's a claim that Emery secured the unanimous approval of Arsenal hierarchy when he gave a presentation a couple weeks ago.
Apparently he "staggered them with a forensic analysis of every player in Wenger’s current squad and provided detailed stats and information on EXACTLY how he would improve them."
Plus: "He also made it clear he planned to build his vision of Arsenal around two key players he regards as central to his plans for the club — star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and midfield powerhouse Aaron Ramsey."
"Emery’s depth of knowledge of every Gunners star left Gazidis and his team gobsmacked — and overshadowed every other presentation, including Arteta’s."

Unai Emery's own website. The man has his own site and social media accounts.
Gonna be great when we bully him off Twitter and hack his site.

Re: Next Manager thread
ffs what a man.
I read somewhere (might be fake news) that Emery sees Ramsey and Auba as his 2 key players for his vision. Surprised but not surprised. I think Emery can take Ramsey to another level. But I am not sure if Ozil is his type of player?
Also the return of 4-2-3-1 should be interesting.

Rafa has the same thing, he writes open letters to the fans on his website explaining his thoughts every time there's a new signing lmfao.

It's wonderful.
Growing fond of him already.
Y'all know I am not a big fan of his, but I hope somehow he can maximise Ramsey's talents.

Re: Next Manager thread
Here is his league record in his Europa league winning seasons
Quick points:
-Goals conceded doesn't look very good
-home record pretty good
-his 14/15 is very impressive:76 pts and also strong results at business end in the league while also going far in Europa
-15/16 terrible away from home
Might be unfair to look at raw stats but still i wanted to have a look

Can't draw much conclusions purely from those stats.
It's never going to be perfect, but I like what I have seen so far here. Welcome Unai, and hope you turn things around.

Emery:
Gazidis:
Kroenke:
https://www.arsenal.com/news/welcome-unai
Emery:
“I am thrilled to be joining one of the great clubs in the game. Arsenal is known and loved throughout the world for its style of play, its commitment to young players, the fantastic stadium, the way the club is run. I’m very excited to be given the responsibility to start this important new chapter in Arsenal’s history. I have met Stan and Josh Kroenke and it’s clear they have great ambitions for the club and are committed to bringing future success. I’m excited about what we can do together and I look forward to giving everyone who loves Arsenal some special moments and memories.”
Gazidis:
“Unai has an outstanding track record of success throughout his career, has developed some of the best young talent in Europe and plays an exciting, progressive style of football that fits Arsenal perfectly. His hard-working and passionate approach and his sense of values on and off the pitch make him the ideal person to take us forward.
“We conducted a confidential, wide-ranging and rigorous search involving extensive background references, data and video analysis, and personal meetings with all the candidates we shortlisted. All were interested in the position and we were unanimous in our choice of Unai to drive the next chapter of our history.”
Kroenke:
“We’re delighted to welcome Unai to Arsenal. He’s a proven winner. We’re confident that he is the right person for the job and that he will work to deliver the triumphs our fans, staff and everyone who cares about Arsenal want.
“Several things stood out during his interview and the entire process; his football knowledge, energy, determination and love of the game. His familiarity with our club and our players, the Premier League and the game in Europe were all very impressive. He shares our vision to move forward, to build on the platform created by Arsène Wenger and help this club enjoy greater success.”

Also, GOAT PR strategy to sell this appointment, to first confuse Arsenal fans to the point of complete bewilderment with those serious and persistent Arteta rumours, thus shattering any expectations to the point of non-existance, before pulling a rather unspectacular, recently bad-mouthed, but solid household name like Emery out of the hat.

Your last part is mostly from GL though, people has a hard on for his failure at PSG. His team lost to two best teams in the world but somehow it is expected of him to overcome Barcelona and Real Madrid. Also people assume, Arsenal could magically pluck hot commodities like Sarri, Allergri, Simeone out of trees without Champion League football and promise of big transfer budget. This transition period is delicate, we need smooth and safe option and we got one, for once I'm thrilled.
