I really liked Cloud Atlas, couldn't get through Mr. Nobody and Eternal Sunshine, and thought The Fountain was probably the worst movie I've ever seen (with strong competition from After Earth).

Loved it. It really f'ed me up. Bale's best role to date imo. That or Bateman. He went too far with the transformation though.

Yeah skip the Fountain RG. I'm in the same boat as Freeza and Elitedam. Was one of the worst wastes of time ever.

So apparently there is a sequel to The Man From Earth being filmed right now and it'll be released next year (10 years after the original).

I enjoy Aronofsky, but I remember not caring for The Fountain. From what I recall (it was a while ago) it was just far too convoluted and a bit of a mess. Movies can be incredibly complex yet completely coherent, but I didn't have that with The Fountain. I'll probably watch it again someday and see what I think now, because I was like 14 when I saw it last, probably.

Speaking of Bateman, I just watched American Psycho for the first time. Fantastic film. Absolutely hilarious and a great performance from Christian Bale. I give it an 8/10

Imo Bale's top 3 is

1) American Psycho
2) The Fighter
3) Machinist

'The Wall'

"Set in the Northern Song Dynasty, the story is about mysteries revolving around the Great Wall of China"

Doesn't look like this film will do well honestly.

I liked The Fighter but it's not better than The Machinist imo.

I agree that's the top 3 as a whole though, that's if you are just counting films where he's in the lead role( or Supporting) anyway.

Because otherwise you can make cases for other films.

Not talking about the quality of the movie.

Ranking his performances. He won an academy award in The Fighter for a reason. He was unbelievably good in that.

If I was choosing based on my favorite movie of his, it will be The Prestige hands down.

Oh right, I still think i prefer Machinist though. Maybe because of the lengths he went to make that character work.

That probably isn't fair but i can't escape that in my mind.

Ok RG, skip the Fountain (I can understand it's not for everyone) but then you have to watch Memento, another Nolan masterpiece, with a similar Machinist vibe.

The twist in Memento isn't conclusive, so you can't really "know" it.

Gibson is back ffs

No one makes emotionally epics like him, he's the best out there. Can't wait for this.

This trailer basically shows the whole story beat for beat, so if you can stay away, probably do that. It's pretty predictable, but the acting, directing etc. is what you want from a war movie, not the plottwists.

That twist isn't conclusive at all. Don't know where you've read that, but it's pretty much to your own interpretation. Watch it and determine for yourself. Remember I got an A on this subject in my first year at uni.

We've been trying to get you into it for years rofl

Watched the French film La Haine yesterday. Crazy how relevant it is 21 years after. Really good look into a police and criminal conflict and how hate breeds hate. Would recommend even though it's black and white. Black and white makes most sense for story purposes.
