Re: Man U already delusional lol
firstly it's a crappy article that just lists players who would strengthen areas we definitely need to work on
out of that entire list the only players who I would rule out coming here next season would be Benz, Modric, Pogba and Neymar

Re: Man U already delusional lol
You still have to look at the lack of CL as a giant handicap for United when it comes to finalizing player transfers. Just means they'll have to offer that little bit more in fees

Do you really think a player would prefer to go to Manchester over Paris?

Count out Griezmann and Varane too(although its a 50-50 in Varane's case since he aint an established CB)
Kane is impossible too

Re: Man U already delusional lol
You are underestimating just how big of a draw Champions League is for top players especially if that team is on the cusp of joining the elite like Paris is.
Man United are way behind PSG now.Just got to accept it.Man U go into rebuilding mode again while PSG compete in the CL with the best.Probably could get beyond QF's,now that Ibra is gone.

yes
Ligue 1 is a shit league that nobody cares about, PL the most attractive league in the world unless Real or Barca come knocking
PSG went out of CL pathetically against a City team we finished behind only on GD in a terrible season for us
sure we aren't in CL this season but w/e, we're still an attractive club regardless, players love money first and foremost
we aren't way behind PSG at all and Ibra leaving will make PSG weaker IMO, can't wait for Cavani to carry them to Europa League spots in their CL group so we can knock them out

Re: Man U already delusional lol
That was the problem PSG had tbh... Ibra was the focal point. He was either injured, got suspended or was mostly ineffective against the really big sides in CL. That just messed everything up because the team's attack was completely geared towards his skills.
But since Man U don't have CL... Ibra should be perfect for them in the short term.

Re: Man U already delusional lol
OK. Ignorance is bliss I guess... but I'll post this here so it seems appropriate:
2012-13 83 pts, 69 GF, 23 GA... won the title on the 35th matchday
2013-14 89 pts, 84 GF, 23 GA... won the title on the 37th matchday
2014-15 83 pts, 83 GF, 36 GA... won the title on the 37th matchday
2015-16 96 pts, 102 GF, 19 GA... won it sometime in late March
So compare that to Madrid, Barca, Bayern and even Juve to see which teams give its top teams the hardest time.

Re: Man U already delusional lol
Bayern,Barca,Juventus,PSG have established dynasties in their respective leagues.Top players would rather go to teams where they're guaranteed trophies and are competing with the best.
Man U dont do that right now. They could get there eventually but they go into transition mode again this year.
Plus anyone with a French/Latin background would rather pick Paris over Manchester as destinations.

Re: Man U already delusional lol
It's reverse psychology in France though... the top players here know Ligue 1 already and want to experience something else. As a frenchman, it's also very hard to be successful and live in France. A lot of jealousy... it's a lot better to be a successful foreign player. They get treated a ton better.
That's why Ibra, Silva, Motta, Sirigu, Di Maria, etc. absolutely love living in Paris.

People forget that players are people too. Some have families and wives have influence over player decisions. Paris is a far more attractive city than Manchester to most people.

If Monaco had more of a population and could consistently get 40k fans as opposed to 10k, everyone would go there. It's just economically unfeasible to pay the top guys given the revenues of that club... as it was, when someone decided to just spend unconsciously, they got Toulalan, Moutinho, James and Falcao all in one summer.
Money is the primary factor though, no doubt.
I mean look at City and even Chelsea... they were literally nothing until a Russian billionaire and the UAE decided to spend lavishly... and only Chelsea has location going for it.
In the end, it's the coherence and ambition of a project that drive players to sign somewhere... location can be a factor depending on the player. Everyone prioritizes things differently. If all things are equal, you would pick to go to Monaco over most places I would assume lol.

Chelsea were not nothing before Abramovic. They were comparable with let's say Schalke.
City were comparable with let's say 1860 München

Re: Man U already delusional lol
Chelsea were exactly what PSG was before money came in... namely, 1 EPL in the 50s, a couple of Europa cups, and a few FA cups. PSG had 2 Ligue 1 titles, 1 Europa, and a bunch of domestic cups (11 to be exact).
Not bad, not great. Obviously nowhere near the elite either domestically or in Europe.
City were abysmal. Hadn't won a thing since the late 60s.

Yeah. French Riviera is defo a place I wanna visit someday. Not saying I wouldn't want to go to Paris or even London as those places too have their allure, surely.
It's true, I think players have already proven that they would prioritize their their salaries over their geographical habitation. I think better examples of this are those players who have recently gone to China or even Russia. Again, I'm not saying that Lavezzi or Hulk probably like those places but I think we all know what's the real reason why they chose to go to those places. Mercenaries have their price.
Lastly, all this negativity towards living in England makes me beg a question.
Is England's climate really that bad?

Well City had a charlatan called Peter Swales who we couldn't get rid of until 1994 who put the club in serious decline after the 1976 League Cup. Think of a modern day Mike Ashley without money and you almost scratch the surface.
Chelsea were blessed long before Roman came on the scene with a bloke called Matthew Harding who history seems to have forgotten completely who ploughed millions and millions into the club and was responsible primarily for all the success Chelsea had in the 1990's.
So yeah even back then just like today money is everything.

Re: Man U already delusional lol
Daily Mail wrote:Manchester United are exploring the potential of a sensational move to bring Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to Old Trafford.
Sportsmail can reveal that United have made two approaches in the last three weeks in an attempt to gauge whether a move for the Argentine might be possible.
Any move is more likely to be with a view to United returning to the Champions League under Jose Mourinho in 2017-18.
A deal for Messi would smash the £85.3m world record transfer that Real Madrid paid Tottenham for Gareth Bale.
Messi's current deal at the Nou Camp is set to expire in 2018 and it has emerged that he will require certain assurances if he is to remain at Barcelona, where he has scored an astonishing 453 goals in 531 games.
United have consistently set their sights on the world's biggest names under the stewardship of executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and have made attempts to resign Cristiano Ronaldo in recent times, while they have also pursued Bale and Neymar in the last year.
