CR as a lone CF is a very, very bad idea.

He shows for Portugal that he doesn't do the dirty stuff a 9 needs to do.

He's not good at holding the ball up and linking play or making the right runs required.

Obviously his movement is unmatched when playing from the wing or off a CF but as a 9 you ask him to do things he's not good at and limit what he is as good at.

Think of him as Griezmann x10 and everything that comes with it positively or negatively.

As bad as Benzema has been he still allows Ronaldo space and lets him make the runs he's good at and links the play.

Man Yoo or anyone else will need a CF alongside him. I know Nick has long been an advocate for him as lone CF but I have never understood why, there's never really been any evidence it's a good idea where as there's loads of evidence he's much better with a CF to play off.

Mole gave a very fair assessment of CR who is in fact not a lone n9 tat leads the line.

Fair enough, I'll explain

His hold up play and passing this season is completely different (in a much better way) because his whole playstyle has changed. He doesn't look for the dribble first, he will pass although in front of goal he still has the selfish streak a CF needs.

I don't know what Ronaldo you've been watching but this one plays for the team (really did take him long enough Rolling Eyes

)

In addition a CFs job is to score. Ronaldo is a proven scorer and movement is incredibly important as a lone CF.

His aerial ability.. no need to talk about that. It's fantastic.

I agree with FennecFox, except I don't agree with Mole being stupid obviously ^^

CR has played for us as striker this season and has been superb. I actually prefer him as striker because that's where he got his hattrick vs. Atletico and that means Benzema gets benched

But CR hasn't played any relevant stretch of football as a "lone CF" he is always with Benzema. So you can't call him that. Not sure why you think it's an insult to his quality. If I say that he can't dribble anymore would you get mad too?

His ball control is still good though. I think his problem before was controlling the bar under pressure.. but he's much more aggressive with CBs now. Guess he final figures he was stronger then a good portion of footy players, because before he woul dive all over the place
