- six major areas that function as distinct dungeons, ruled by demigod characters (you don't have to follow an order)

- hub confirmed

- catacombs, castles, fortresses, mini dungeons etc.

- confident that Elden Ring will arrive on its release date

- character creator

- multiple endings

- much higher degree of freedom than before

- optional bosses

- Battle arts from DS3 return but are not fixed to a weapon (~100 techniques)

- Spirits can be collected and equipped apparently (summons)

- different types of spirits (use them for assaults, as decoy, for defense etc)

- Spirits can be improved apparently

- There are also rather useless spirits with other traits

- multiplayer support during exploration on the open fields (but you are not able to ride your horses in multiplayer apparently)

- ER is more "manageable" due to the many different options the player has but there are still many tough enemies

- fall damage is low to keep explorers motivated

- there is a world map

- the actual dungeons do not have a map

- crafting system with materials

- Miyazaki guesses playtime is maybe at 30 hours "without too many side trips"

asynchrous multiplayer elements return; you can apparently set up groups (with friends for example) and give their messages/dead bodies etc. higher priority (keyword system, no limit on group size)

As long as it's not a result of forced crunch time or development issues piling up, I don't think it's a problem. It's hard to tell, since publishers always try to keep a tight lid on these things.

Last minute delays (2-3 months before intended release is what I'd call last minute in game development) are worrying, because studios nowadays are very liberal with what they consider ready for release ("we'll just fix the game with updates" mentality), so I don't think any game that is delayed at the last minute is going to be very polished.

Were previous From Software games open world too?

I like how the world looks like, although it doesn't look George R R Martin-esque. In fact I must say his inclusion in the game could have been utilised much better to develop a strong storyline. Missed opportunity IMHO.

I was put off previous FS's games because of the taxing combat, but this one looks a bit more accessible? Maybe RG can comment on this.

I like the inspirations from Zelda: BotW with the markers. Very useful.

They weren't open world. This is the first attempt. It actually looks very much like monster hunter. Combat however will still be as punishing. They seem to have merged Sekiro's combat with DS.

I'm just pissed off because you have this, horizon and lost ark (first pc game ive been interested in in many years) all releasing within a 2 week period...its 2017 all over again.

Stay away from anything Elden Ring related for the next couple of months.

Fromsoftware are idiots and left every single audio file in the network test, and there's a PS4 jailbreak now so people have datamined most of it, huge spoilers and plot twists floating around now. 70 days from release ffs. I hope they bring forward released by a month if possible. Seems unrealistic.

I am so hyped about this game. Daily think about which class to choose from. But i have no idea where i pre-ordered it from like a year ago. Hope someone delivers it

Not turned my PS5 on since September other than charging my phone

After DS1 and DS2 i also went into huge retirement only to return and start DS3 recently.( I started DS3 last year but stopped it midway and proceeded to finish DS2). I am halfway there but now want to get in with Elden Ring. I have promised myself that i will finish DS3 first and then proceed to ER/BB. But if GL seduces me enough I might break it and go for Elden Ring next week.
