Should Thiago have chosen Brazil? Empty Should Thiago have chosen Brazil?

Post by Ganso Tue Sep 06, 2011 11:06 pm

Thiago debuted today in a official match for Spain,so no turning back now.Considering Spain has Cesc,Cazorla and even more talents coming through, wouldnt it be a better choice for him to play for us,like his brother Rafinha will do?Im sure he would be a starter or at least be #1 on the pecking order in case any of our attacking players missed a match .For Spain,im sure hell get some playing time, but i dont see him starting until around his mid 20s

I would've. Oh, you won't get to play with your Barca buddies? Too bad. Spain is currently top team of the world? Yeah, but who cares, country comes first. He'd be a star and Brazil are dying for someone of his style of play. He'd also play with his brother, which is awesome.

He took the easy way, IMO. I'd be pissed if I were Brazilian. Smells a little of bandwaggoneering.

im not really pissed because we still have talents, old and young, that can cover his absence. But as I said he would be a heavy addition to our awful creative mid, specially when Ganso gets injured whenever he hears a NT call up and Hernanes doesnt get the nod.Dinho is pretty much our only creative midfielder atm.

If he feels Spanish then hes 100% right.

You dont choose your international team based on how many games youd get

spent a lot of his early years in Brazil, started playing for Flamnego, son of brazil WC legend Mazinho, speaks fluent Portuguese, spends a lot of time in here..he has more reasons to play for us rather than Spain tbh

You're right Brazil need him more but he did the best thing for his career.

He gets to play with his club team as the national team basically and after being at Barca for as long as he has he must know Pep favors Spanish internationals.

Also, I'm sure he watches Alves and Messi kill themselves flying half way around the world every time there's an international break or some meaningless friendly when he can just stay right at home instead.

On another note this kid has more confidence then anyone I've seen at his age. I mean he is taking on the two hardest midfields in the world to get into and not even thinking twice about it, he could have done the easy thing and left on club level and international level but instead he chose to stay and fight it out. You have to respect that.

if that was the best for his career is questionable,as i wrote,he will spend most of the time on the bench, for both club and NT.

There's still hope for Rafinha, he looked serious this past weekend for Barca B.

I said the same thing, but it doesn't phase him. Also, these kids don't need to be starting in the national teams at such young ages especially when your talking about the Brazil and Spain's of the world. The kids future is in Barca and i've never seen a team or coach more loyal to there countries internationals then Barca. So he is doing the right thing for his club career and if he has to wait a little while to get into the Spanish national team so be it, look how long it's taken Fab, it's normal to wait to break into teams of this caliber.

He'd be like an instant starter for Brazil, while at Spain he's reduced to bench role. Next WC is in his homeland, where he could have become a legend.

Glory wise Brazil was a much better choice. Winning wise, Spain (as horrible as that sounds).

What do you mean, he said may times before he feels Spanish and he only ever wanted to play for Spain. You dont pick and choose countries like that, you would want to play and work hard to break into the team of the country you love, not for one that you feel is foreign.

Anyway, with Ganso as AM and the CM situation very fluid in Brazil right now, its not like he would walk into the starting 11.

Speaking of Glory and 2014, the final most likely will be held at the Maracanã "Flamengo's Stadium". Which is the club where started as a youth.

he would walk much easier into our staring 11 than "walk"(definitely not a walk) into Spain's starting 11.I rate an in form Ganso higher than thiago (dont flame me) but the problem is Ganso is soo injury prone right now and we never know when he will recover his fitness.

We have a gap in the midfield right now until Ganso regains form or Hernanes is called up.A place Thiago would most certainly have..

If we completely write off Ganso, Thiago would have a chance, and even then not 'walking into the starting 11'. But I doubt Ganso will disappear forever.

And yes, he would have a much easier time finding a place in Brazil than Spain. But nationality just doesnt work that way.

It's pretty obvious Hulk is better, Hulk had ridiculous goalscoring and assisting stats last season in a better league and won the treble

nerman has better passing,is ambidextrous and dribbles easily,Hulk is great, but i prefer a more agile guy,a player who can pass/finish with both feet...we already have the physicality with Damiao

It wont matter in the end I think, Thiago is that talented he will likely be a starter for Spain.

I dont see how in 5 years or so, he isnt a starter.

In the OP, Cesc was mentioned.

But who else in midfield?

If the isnt better then Cazorla I will be shocked.

Who else? Canales?

I agree with Khaled (I feel guilty)...

He did the right thing... connection with fellow teammates.

I actually thought about Lionel Messi today and his decision to play for Argentina.

He would complete the Spanish squad.

And its funny seeing Cesc in every formation made by Barca fans.

He used to be called a bench warmer for Spain.

What a funny world.
