Hell no.

Ozil in his First season with us > Sneijder's first season.

In last 3-4 matches he wasn't at his best but it happens for every player so there is nothing to worry about.

Mesut Ozil analysed Wednesday's match with Olympique Lyonnais for Bwin.com.

"Olympique Lyonnais are somewhat stronger and more aggressive when they play as locals. Our advantages are our touch on ball and our individual efforts. We have world class players such as Ronaldo, Benzema, Kaka and Di Maria. We want to score many goals and return to Madrid with three more points under our belt."

"I play for the best club in the world. I'm one of the usual starters and the coach has faith in me. Football has always been my greatest passion and it's great to now have a chance to play for Real Madrid."

"Real Madrid is a legendary team and our goal is to win every title at stake. That obviously includes the Champions League."

"I want to continue improving on my performances in order to help the team even more."

sneijder had a meh second season because (imo) we had the worst coach of all time (juande ramos) and because he was injured.

we have a great manager now, ozil is young and extremely talented.

he should be fine

"I often speak with Zidane. He tells me all the time: 'Mesut, you know what you're capable of. Go out there on the pitch and play your own game, just do your own thing out there," Ozil was quoted as saying by Kicker.

The 23-year-old faces stiff competition from Brazil international Kaka for a starting berth, but he remains unperturbed by the current situation.

"Kaka is doing very well at the moment. So I don't play every single game. Jose Mourinho has explained that whoever is doing a good job is playing.

"We have a lot of big names in the team and they all want to play. I want the same thing, though. I am very happy to be part of this Madrid and want to stay put for many years."

He was playing much deeper vs Atletico. Give him a few months and when he has adapted he will be a monster

He is making steady progress, still I don't like how long he keeps the ball before releasing to others. His playing style is perfect for final third but he should play more one touch in CAM area eco smile One time he played fast, a goal was caused (Ozil-> CR7->Di Maria) eco smile
Alos, WTF with so many flying tackles going unpunished? eco smile They ganged up on him all night long, Pathetico they are eco smile

Ozil needs to either a) get true progress to play CAM or b) just return to being a pure AM and winger. He's pretty ineffective right now overall. Has moments... but very few in a game.

Kaka looked better when he came on, which should be motivation enough.

Id really understand what is the matter with Ozil shape these days !!!
He loses several balls and ctrls and his positionning on the pitch is barely helpful.

That would be ok if he had the knack for jumping into the attack. Mostly, he drifts in and out of plays as opposed to impacting them. Lacks the movements and instincts of a CM imo...

Ozil should just give up on CAM and stick to AM/SS. he really is not the type of attacking midfielder we want him to be.

He was really ineffective today.

Ozil has been preforming great since the start of the season. Problem is people only look at whether he assisted or scored before they say he played well.

He's a big part of our overall play and seriously if Jose f*cking Mourinho is insisting on playing him in a deeper role it means he's doing a good job.

he has been losing possession and failing to dribble more than he used to.last season he was much better if you ask me,hes not being dangerous at all upfront, even when he leaves his deep role.

Even Mourinho mentioned once when Kaka started a couple of games about 6 weeks ago that Ozil hasn't been perform to "Ozil's standards"... We're scoring and winning; so who cares at this point. But i think it's a waste of talent to make him play so deep. He's a magician when in the final 1/3 and we're intentionally forcing him away from that zone...

I agree with that line of thinking. Ozil in the final third only needs one touch to make something happen. However I appreciate his current role because our game flows more naturally or at least that's the impression I get when he plays.

Kaka is good too but when he plays I don't feel like we control the game enough. I could be wrong though.

But like you said we're in a good run so it doesn't really matter and who knows maybe Ozil will find another gear eventually.

I feel Ozil has been just as good this year...I don't know what you guys are talking about. His role with us has changed and he has adapted pretty effortlessly to it. Like Zealous mentioned we control the game way more with Ozil dropping deep. Mou purposely did this I feel.
