We need this lad back at his best. I'm a fanboy and will be the first to admit he has been poor so far this season. Kaka was a monster yesterday but I doubt it will last. We all know what Ozil is capable of, now it's about time he stepped up.

It will last, if Mourinho started taking him seriously. A player in the caliber of Kaka is always a starter and isnt subbed let alone be included as a bench warmer.

Now that is true even if he played poorly for 6 consecutive games. But if you keep switching gears every other game, he will not deliver.

Too bad he's wasting his talents in a club like Madrid, and it weird that no PL club has offered him a contract on loan.

At the start of his third season and after 117 matches as a Real Madrid player, Mesut Özil has already assisted his teammates for more than half a century of goals (51).

The German, who has made assists in all of the competitions that he has played in as a Real Madrid player, was also leader in this aspect of the game in both the Champions League in 2010/11 (7) and in last year’s La Liga (17). His best ally has been Cristiano Ronaldo.

In fact, the combination between the two has produced excellent returns for the Whites: 21 goals.

KAKA is NOT FINISHED! And can still send Ozil on a run for his money. His come back continued on the right path on Thursday night as he went beast mode on Iraq scoring, assisting and just being a thorn in the side.

Kaka shone in every single game this season including in preseason. This should be the longest run of form the Brazilian has enjoyed since moving to the Spanish Capital, I’m glad for him because he is hungry for success. More and more is he looking like his former Milan self skipping pass defenders scoring blinders with his right foot and left, even with his bum (against Millonarios) he’s defensive work rate has soared as well. Hopefully Mou will grant him the opportunity to exhibit his capabilities against a strong team and integrate him back into the starting lineup because he deserves it.

He was great, but so were the whole German team tbh until their collapse in which he joined in as well

If i had to point out the best Germna player of the night tho i'd probably go for Muller with Ozil and Klose close second/third respectively

Has anyone been following Ozil's contract disputes with Nike after they ended their relationship?

Real Madrid man Mesut Ozil faces an €150,000 daily fine if he continues to wear Adidas branded boots on the pitch, a Dutch court ruled on Tuesday, as it interferes with fine-print in his last contract with Nike.

The attacking midfielder has been spotted multiple times this season wearing Adidas football boots, but without the iconic three stripes on the side.

Although Ozil is no longer being endorsed by Nike, they have the right to equal any offer made by potential rival sponsors before the Germany international can legally switch brands.

According to the 24-year-old and his representatives, no contract has been agreed with Adidas. However, the court in Amsterdam has questioned Ozil's motives to start wearing Adidas, finding it unlikely that he would switch boot brands without another deal already being in place.

The court has ruled in favour of Nike and decided that the Los Blancos star must outline any offer presented to him, which would allow Nike to come back with a new offer in return. Failure to do so would result in a €150,000 daily fine.

Should he be a little bit more selfish ? He should shoot, dribble, make runs more often IMO... Mou's restricting his freedom to make space for Ronaldo... make him the focal point like he is for Germany.

Özil is Real Madrid's most refined player. In a team packed with juggernauts like Cristiano Ronaldo, Di María, Higuaín and Khedira, Mesut Özil's exquisite touch exerts the same destructive effect.

Özil does not play an aggressive game. He undoes his opponent with the subtlety characteristic of the most talented and imaginative players. He did it again on Sunday. In a frenetic first half for Real Madrid, packed with fast attacking football, the man with his hand on the switch was this fantastic German footballer. His brightest moment came on 41 minutes, when he played in Cristiano Ronaldo with a backheel for the Portuguese striker to beat Diego Alves and make it 4-0 to Real.

Özil made his mark again, with that backheel which takes apart defences and leaves his team's finishers rubbing their hands. And they never fail. We have seen it on plenty of occasions. On Sunday it was Cristiano Ronaldo, but Benzema has also benefitted from this lovely piece of skill by the German. That was two years ago in the Champions League clash against Ajax. It was later named the best goal of the tournament.

Mesut Özil plays with real style in a team where the philosophy is to take the most direct route towards goal. When he gets the ball, you know something different is going to happen. His strength is not his power, but the precision of his passing. Özil was involved in every one of his team's five goals.
