Uhm, yes? He's exactly what we need in our system. A predator in the box who doesn't come towards the ball all the time like our other 10 players on the pitch, provides depth to the play, keeps the centerbacks honest and can be a focal point upfront. See what happened to Argentina's offensive play once he came on and how Messi scored his goal.

We need a striker. Neymar and Alexis are wingers. They can score the occasional goal but they are creators first and foremost who collect the ball and dribble and drive forward with it. Alexis has what? 6 assists in his last 3 games? A creator if I ever saw one. Neymar is even less of a finisher right now although he scores for Brazil. And Messi plays more and more like a #10. Need a focal point upfront otherwise defenses have it easier to step out and get on Messi's toes.

Cesc has said that Xavi will be "taking a step aside " like Puyol. I guess those Qatari dollars speak loudly... Not that I blame him for trying to make the most amount of money possible before retiring.

If Xavi leaves then the club would need to sign another midfielder. Unless they already knew he was leaving and Rakatic is his replacement and Rafinha is getting the Cesc minutes (which would be pretty cool tbh, with Sergi backing them all up in midfield incase of injury)

Btw; got to hand it to Zubi. We got MaTs and Rakatic for the same amount we sold Cesc for, and we didn't have to give Arsenal any kind of percentage. So so far, whatever transfer kitty they had should still be in tact for the summer since we havn't dove into our recoursces for transfers. Then you still have the money we will be make from selling Tello, Cuenca, Afellay, Jona, Bojan (getting them off payroll alone will help). The only thing I disagree with is extending Mascherano and putting a 100M release clause in his contract wtf?! Unless we are selling Song and he's going to become Busi's back up then its not so bad I guess

But so far we got a bunch of BS rumors, but the actual deals going down are pretty good as of this point. Zubi still has the entire summer to ruin us though so lets wait and see lol

also just saying we have been rumored to go after ochoa last month if bravo didn't work out...

Why should we sell Xavi?I dont think he was any worse than any of our other midfielders last season.
Iniesta is very injury prone and will miss large chunks of the season.What happens when Iniesta invariably gets injured?
I dont trust a midfield of Rakitic and Rafinha(not experienced enough playing for us) and Roberto is a scrub.
So it would be very foolish to let him go.

I don't think we're kicking him out, I think he wants one last lucrative contract before his career is over and the club won't stand in his way. It would be very stupid to actively look for other clubs for him.

Xavi agreed terms on his own will with that other club; trying to get a big paycheck before he retires. That's not us trying to get rid of him.

I'm interested to see if we go for another midfielder in the event Xavi leaves. We could be fine with Ratakic/Rafinha/Iniesta, but remember next summer we have the transfer ban. So it might be wise to sign another midfielder. Plus maybe that Arab club pays top coin for Xavi. I'm sure they have the money for it.

dont know why would he choose a club in qatar even if to leave. there are other high paying clubs in competetive professional leagues who would gladly accept him..also how he gets closer to families through playing qatar?? does not make much sense to me...

Maybe the only other club offering insane wages was NYFC? If thats the case then Qatar is closer.
