Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Davide Petrucci said Goodbye to him on his Instagram and called him a galactico, so I think he's off.
Anyway, he's really fast and he has good link up play, but his end product can be inconsistent sometimes he overruns it, and can improve his crossing. His positioning is generally good but sometimes he dives into tackles unnecessarily or gets too tight and leaves gaps behind him. I think he's strong defensively though. Those moments are only occasional.
He also had some personal problems last year, his parents, I think were in a car accident, so he missed a part of the season. All in all, I think he had a good debut season, and deserved to get called up on tour since we also need a back-up RB. Imo, he's also better than our other RB, Janko.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Kinda bummed about the Varela move away, he's better than Janko, all the best though.
Cleverley out this saga is ended. It's a loan, sure, but he's out. Finally.
Welbeck to Arsenal has the potential to slap us so bad. Hope this isn't Sturridge 2.0.

I've regained some level respect for Cleverley. Glad to see him take the opportunity at Villa.
Was never gonna play had he remained at United. Would have been a complete waste of space.
Best of luck to him.

Moany loon. Be grateful you won't be seeing Sanogo lead the line while that other scrub Giroud is injured
Every other Arsenal, here, on social media have been welcoming of Welbeck. They understand his potential and are generally excited by the signing tbf.

^Yeah, a lot have been tbf. There's actually more videos of Arsenal fans welcoming Welbeck, but I thought the Man Utd never sell us good players comment was a bit funny and the looking down at Welbeck but not Bony part.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Varela heads to Madrid
Manchester United's Under-21 right-back Guillermo Varela has joined Real Madrid on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Uruguayan, who was the first signing of David Moyes' time in charge of the club, has moved to the Spanish capital to join Real's Reserves side.
Real confirmed the arrival of both the Uruguayan and Benjamin Kuscevic into the Castilla squad and both players will have the opportunity to work under French maestro Zinedine Zidane, who is the team's coach.
Varela will obtain experience playing in the Segunda Liga after being a regular in United's Under-21s last term and also performing as part of a three-man defence for Warren Joyce's men in the early part of this campaign.
It's only a loan

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
It's higher level football since they play in the third division and not a reserve league, but in other places I see loan + option to buy. United site says nothing of it.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
plus he's going to a place that speaks his native tongue, no problem with the deal playing for Castilla vs Men in 3rd division will better prepare him for life in a first team then playing in reserve matches...
I'm a big fan of the Spanish and German B team model of development, was all for it when there was talk a few months back about similar style coming to the Football Association in england

Valdes could be joining us
http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2014/Oct/louis-van-gaal-offers-victor-valdes-chance-to-recover-from-injury-at-aon-training-complex.aspx?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=ManUtd
Would be a good move. Solid keeper to have as back up to De Gea.
Van Gaal offers Valdes a chance to recover
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has offered the 32-year-old former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes a chance to complete his rehabilitation from a knee injury and to work his way back to fitness with the club.
Valdes, a free agent, will have his recovery supervised by the United medical staff before training with the first team, as he bids to regain full fitness.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
plus if he is to be signed on a permanent basis, then his wage will be a problem. Even if he agree for a pay cut, I assume his wage demands to be still in the excess of 100k. So thats basically stupid.
We already are in a mess when it comes to our wage bill. So...
I personally prefer a young gk (to backup ddg) if the plan is to offload Lindegaard.
But having said that yes strange things do happen.

Our wage bill is fine, but I agree signing a back-up goalkeeper on a high wage is stupid. Also agree with B-mac, just seems like a nice gesture from van Gaal.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
are you sure ?? At least 5 of our players are on humongous salaries and are getting overpaid big time. And there are chances of it going further up in the next 2 windows. And I dont think any of our high on wages players to get offloaded as well. van persie is the closest there, but he will definitely stay as well. So.. we might run into a problem on that front soon ( if its not there already).
Therefore spending 100k+ on a backup gk is not a wise decision I believe.
but then again if its just meant as a gesture to help him recover faster, then sure. No problemo.

Ed Woodward confirmed our wage bill has gone down. The likes of Rio, Vidic, Evra, Kagawa, Welbeck, Hernandez and Giggs were all on high wages. Especially the first three.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
Too many reports surfacing that we will be snapping up vv (in a couple of weeks time).
And this move has very much rekindled my fears regarding loosing ddg in the near future too. You cannot buy a keeper like valdes and expect him to be an eternal bench warmer like lindegaard. Also vice versa we wouldnt be going for an A class keeper like valdes if we werent absolutely certain about renewing ddg's contract too. So..
May be I am reading into this a tad too much and vv will be just a back up option to ddg after all. Hope it will be that way.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread
or Media just wants to sell papers and get hits on there website as usual by throwing are name in a transfer rumour.
De Gea is a Atletico boy, he won't go to that mob...he even came out and said how happy he was here and that madrid rumours were false

Press have been briefed United are going to give LVG another 150mill in the summer. Great news that the club is supporting LVG in trying to rebuild the club to the required level.
BBC sport, Telegraph, etc reporting it.
Many names being mentioned- Godin, Hummels, Robben(?), Clyne, to name a few.
Obviously not guaranteed we're after these players, but it's names we're being linked to.
