Don't really feel sorry for a team incompetent enough to field an ineligible player. The rules are clear on this issue imo.

I'm more upset at Napoli having to face Bilbao, both of these teams should be in the CL proper making them play each other is silly and bad for the tournament.

Those who say Legia didn't know he was suspended, please at least bother to read the story. Legia sounds he has served his suspension by not including him in the squad for the games vs st Patricks and first leg vs Celtic. Disgraceful decision , but it's Platini and Celtic are worth more financially to Uefa than the poor Legia Warsae who have a lower wage bill than Rangers.

Done with Uefa. And then they pair up Stjranan with Inter. Poorer teams have no power, the big teams always have to get through. This is pure BS. Call me when both Blatter and Platini and all capitalism advocate are no longer in power and we may have some social justice

Can Rafa get any more unluckier? Had Arsenal and Dortmund in the group last season, still got 12 points and became the first team to amass that amount of points and still not progress. Zenit had like 4 points last season and still went through to the Round of 16

Was hoping Lille would get Bayer or Zenit but Porto isn't too bad either. Porto ain't as good as yesteryears so not that worried.

The banned player served his 3 match suspension.

UEFA, however, say 2 of those games (2 legs vs. St.Pattricks) he wasn't registered in the 23 men squad, and hence doesn't count as his suspension. Legia argued, that's the whole point...he was suspended, so we didn't register him.

and then boom. they are out for this misunderstanding/miscommunication/clerikal error.

The dude came on for 2 minutes when the game was 6-1 ....not like legia wanted to take advantage or anything.

He missed:
Home vs. St Patricks
Away vs. St Patricks
Home vs. Celtic

UEFA says the first 2 don't count because Legia didn't register the said player as part of the 23 men squad for the round (Legia didn't do that, assuming he is suspended, so why would they register a suspended player for the squad ?!)

They broke the rules mate. UEFA can't go back on their rules or they would open a can of worms.

You can very much register suspended players though. They are just suspended, not cup tied. I like to bash UEFA croonies as much as anyone here but Legia have only themselves to blame for this. In fact, if UEFA had let this one slide, they'll have set an unwarranted precedent.

With that being said, my own feelings on this is that it's harsh and I could only assume that Celtic fans aren't exactly proud of their win by default.

Yeah.. I mean there are rules in place how to serve a ban.. I don't see how you can blame UEFA for this; if it was a misunderstanding because something is unclear why doesn't it happen with other teams lol.

But think about it. Europa League final is in Warsaw. That's a much more meaningful goal anyway.

Bull shit, these rules are not crystal clear, and are simply not written well. Nowhere does it say that a suspended player must be named within the 23 squad.

Any big team would have moved by with a fine. This is obvious favoritism towards a richer club, and its not even funny.
