so... what exactly do you people believe is appropriate punishment for repeated dangerous tackles or actually dangerous conduct?

Are you suggesting being bitten by a human isn't dangerous?

And people who constantly do horror tackles should also be banned for very lengthy periods of time, for repeat offences.

Pepe got banned for 10 matches just like Suarez was banned for 10 matches for his first offence...the difference is oucourse Suarez never learnt.

I don't think it's quite right that he will miss nine Premier League games because of this, because of an on-field incident in a FIFA competition. If someone makes a couple of horror tackles or headbutts at the WC, would they be banned from club competitions, too? No.

Anyway, four months it is and we, Liverpool, are just going to have to deal with it. Again.

you cant keep looking back at what was done before. FIFa are setting new standards for these kind of offenses. it's the job of national league to follow suit and to crackdown people who bring violence of football pitch. i dont know how looking at what happened with pepe help this debate, nor it help to rationalize what fifa did as if pepe was the standard. It's not FIFA's fault Suarez is being banned from club play. It's Suarez's fault. Plain and simple.

the point is that pepe is constantly committing dangerous fouls and violent conduct yet he's had one extensive ban, suarez has now missed half a season for being harmlessly crazy

Pepe is a good and contemporary comparison, actually. Has done violent stuff on the pitch a lot and the latest came in this World Cup, his little headbutt on Muller. Yet not even talk of him getting a ban.

iirc Pepe made his first foul this season in the Copa semi final game against Atleti. That was what?? in February??? There are some guys that actually try to clean up their acts but then there are others who are all talks but no action. Unlike Liverpool Real Madrid did not want to put up with Pepe's behaviour and forced him to change if he wanted to stay and play for us. That's very different to pretending something didn't happen

I would say the ban is actually not harsh on Liverpool...it was just unfortunate that Suarez happened to be a Liverpool player. Their own bad luck for trusting such a player.
