It really is a terrible thread to conceive especially given the idea if Tuchel or even Toppmöller came in, they wouldn't be anywhere near as prejudiced as Di Matteo is on this forum; i.e the manager responsible for the team who took away Bundesliga glory in the CL final.

But I guess you'd want Keller's kopflose Fußball rather Laughing

I'm sure he'll succeed, if he doesn't, then hopefully it'll surely be down to the board, right? Right. lol

Let's not delude ourselves, RDM getting sacked is a question of when not if lol

He has zero credentials or skills as a coach as far as I can tell. He was basically a spectator during that fairy tail Chelsea run in the CL. Chelsea's locker room leaders (Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Cole etc) were behind the CL win not RDM, he's lucky he didn't have to buy tickets to come see the games.

To me results will never outweigh a style of football which makes you want to gouge your eyes out. Mainly because results don't last but the style does.

Actually it was more or less Felix Magath who brought them to the CL semis, but he was sacked in March 2011, just after he won the Last 16 matches of the CL and led Schalke into the final of the DFB-Pokal. (Schalke were not amused that his BL results weren't top notch. BTW, Magath otiginally got a 4 year contract when he took over in May 2009.)

As I mentioned before, the Schalke board is a bit erratic and Schalke's coaching job is a hot seat. Magath was followed by Ralf Rangnick, who resigned 6 months later on his own accord as he suffered from a burnout.

Klopp is doing worse imo. No need to start these threads so soon.

Btw, how is Gundogan doing? I noticed he came back

Jürgen Klopp works for Dortmund who don't want to get rid of him. Better ask in the Bundesliga thread for Ilkay Gündogan. --> http://www.goallegacy.net/t36200-the-bundesliga-thread

Actually, after initial bemusement, I now feel Di Matteo might be a good choice for Schalke.

Let's face it, Schalke never was famous for exciting football, the only times they did feel like somewhere close to a top team was when they were grinding out 1:0s consistently with Stevens.

If Di Matteo can bring stability, that will be a good thing for Schalke.

I thought the fact that I knew RWO was the author of this thread solely by looking at the title of the thread was really hilarious. Laughing

Well see how he progresses. So far he's done well to beat Sporting at CL.

If he shuns the kids from Schalke's Knappenschmiede like Max Meyer, you can't expect me to be amused. :coffee:

So... Schalke convincingly defeated in the CL by Sporting CP this week and in the Bundesliga against Freiburg, too, both times playing completely without verve and conviction.

So much for RDM's building a solid defense and playing attacking football...

He won't get fired by Horst Heldt i can guarantee though. This is Heldt's last shot. So if Di Mateo has to go, Heldt will be fired at the same time.

He coaches just the Schalke 04 , not even Dortmund. It is normal he can sometimes lose . If they often sack managers, basically there is a reason
His overall score is positive so far

Well, Jens Keller was fired after reaching the CL twice in succession, just after he led Schalke to the best "Rückrunde" (part of the season after the winter break) they ever had in their history and after he convincingly won the Ruhr Derby against Dortmund (Schalke's most important match of the season) - just because people claimed that Schalke didn't play attractively enough and that Keller lacked charisma.

So you can imagine that this doesn't exactly bode well for a prolongued stay of RDM (and likely Horst Heldt, too)...

It will be Horst Heldt + Di Mateo , powered by Clemens Tönnies
But I think it will take time, probably in February/March
