Combined fee is over 80m

Lyon put in a 25% sell on clause when they sold him to Monaco.

So United pay £36m upfront to Monaco (who in return pay Lyon £9m) while the rest of £22m is in added bonus.

According to french reports (l'equipe) anyways

He is quite talented. It's there to see if he fulfils his potential or not though. Too early to suggest anything.

He is a lot more closer to Saha than to Henry though. In playing style.

Gonna wait a while until there is some substantial news about the figure we paid. A lot of conflicting reports atm.

We've been scouting him for a year so we'll see how this turns out.

I'd rather we spent it earlier in the window on someone who will instantly improve our frontline (which is not hard to do atm), not have another Memphis, who has quality potential but will need time and patience to adjust to the league.

Would love for him to start immediately, but that's not happening as long as that lump up front is undroppable.

Not sure it's the right decision for him. So young and going into one of the highest pressure markets in the world for one of the highest pressure teams in the world. If he doesn't come out of the gate hot he's probably sacrificing a lot of his potential to make the big money move.

Also calling him the best u20 striker in the world seems a bit much.

well he is a successful investment banker and businessman, but dealing with stocks, bonds or options isnt quite the same as dealing with football players. and quite frankly he has been ass at his new job so far

United are the richest club in the World they can afford this deal. If he turns out to be the next Henry, Anelka, Trezeguet, Benzema no one will bring up the transfer fee anymore.

HOWEVER, I can't shake the feeling that the next Henry, Anelka, Trezeguet or Benzema will not have grown to top class at a club throwing around 80m € for a kid on deadline day.

They do have a better team overall, but Martial is not a natural scorer so that's his challenge. He will have to become that
