Yeah, Djourou has been shit and midfield cover without Song is for crap. But if you watched the Udinese games you'd see our defense was tight as hell and midfield cover decent. The game in the Emirates we were getting overrun after the 20th minute, yet the defense held out. Practically grinded the result, impressive for Arsenal.

Of course, we had most of our first team players there.

I did actually get to rewatch the game I missed live and I agree the defending was good and there was clearly a difference due to first teamers being there.

Our problem is having shit depth, basically. There's a huge difference in class between our first 11 and our bench.

Just kidding, but Arsenal do play their defensive line rather high up the pitch, and not deep, this season, don't they?

Could expose Pers lack of pace.

In terms of positioning, anticipation and technique he's a grade A signing though. And it shows Wenger is willing to actually improve, so these are all good signs for Arsenal.

His tactical awareness and intelligence with positioning will make up for his lack of pace (even thought World Cup stats prove he was one of the fastest players in the tournament, but meh)

Only reason Arsenal played so high is that the CBs were crap in the air, bad tactically and lacked physical toughness. With Per and Vermaelen, they can play a more traditional lower line.

its better than buying a 19 year old deffender :lol!: and arsenal concede most out of headers so his hieght will be very useful ...

We said the same about Chgyrnskiy but it just doesnt work that way.

Eventually in a game vs good teams, he will be isolated 1 V 1 with someone and his slowless will be exposed I am sure.

And really stats show that? Amazing...goes to show you how pointless stats can be at times because no two ways about it, Per is slow.

no offense but how clueless are you? arsenal play a high line cause we are an attacking team and keep possession hence need to make the pitch as small as possible

interesting but maybe we shud first find out how they measure this...cos err1 has said the guy is slow and im guessin at 6'6 u cant expect him to be a bundle of pace either
