How good is Montoya? I'm not sure if I've ever seen him play. Wikipedia tells me he has got 30 appearances for Barcelona in about 2 years, but that doesn't really indicate anything. I'm just hoping we're not possibly interested in him just because he's a Barcelona player.

I don't know, I personally don't mind Flanno as a back-up but that's just me I guess.

From what I've personally seen from Montoya, which isn't much it has to be said, he seems decent going forward but he's not that great at defending. He's like a poorer version of Glen Johnson to be honest. With that said, Montoya can't defend. He can play on either side at full back, so I think he's being bought more as a squad player than first team for right now.

No, he is a backup to Alves. He is a right footed right back. Would be stupid for him to move to Liverpool where he will be a backup to Glen Johnson.

He is a tidy player with a well balanced attacking and defensive game. Very good on the overlap and crossing. He is quite quick and has a decent dribling. His main weakness is defensive 1 on 1, he gets beaten too easily. Good positioning and decent aerial game compared to our other full backs.

He'll be first team as Enrique's out for a while. He'll probably be a squad player after Enrique arrives is what I initially meant.

7 month more left on his contract, i think once again we are trying to be opportunistic and that's all. It can work out to be a good signing btw

He's a lot more effective on the right hand side than he is on the left.

He isn't better than Glen Johnson and as a left back he loses all his ofensive game, that as explained is one of his best assets (overlapping and crossing) so again, stupid move for him.

That would mean Glen Johnson would have to play on the left hand side.

Just thinking outside the box, struggling to think why Barcelona let his contract run so close to expiring.

Really hoping we exploit the market with either Chelsea or PSG and whatever happens with Mata. If Mata's not allowed to join another English team (don't think he will be allowed; Mourinho isn't stupid), get in Pastore or De Bruyne. Surprised

The best way to get "squad players" is to continuously buy players that are "first team". That way our current "first team" players become "squad players" and compete with the big new signing to get games. The current crop in the starting XI now has no fear of losing their place when there's a bunch of 20 year olds on the bench. The only senior attacking player on our bench right now is Aspas (who's not settled yet to the league)... everyone else is still adapting to the Liverpool playing style (whichever style we play depending on the day.......................) and trying to improve as a player. We bought far too much inexperience.

I don't know what you mean by 'bad for Liverpool'. He hasn't clicked for us, true. I think Rodgers wanted a natural wide player with pace and strength as an tactical option, a thing we didn't have.

No denying he haven't delivered.

People are being way too critical on Moses after one poor performance. Had it been, say, Coutinho with that performance, we'd be thinking nothing of it. Sure he needs to improve, but that applied to everyone in the Hull match.

Please set Glen Johnson apart from everyone else when it comes to performance in the Hull game!!!! He was poor in levels unimaginable he brought in suicidal feelings within fans!

Moses just needed a stick but i think he will have a decent contribution in absence of Sturridge if given chances, i think BR can try to include him in the team a long term plan in these next few hard fixtures by playing Cou in the center behind Suarez
