Official: Real Madrid sign Danilo

Real Madrid C. F. and FC Porto have reached an agreement over the transfer of Danilo for £23m, he will join the club next season and has a contract until 30 June 2021

But more importantly, great signing for Madrid. Danilo is great. Someone Barca should have signed. Will this means Carvajal will be demoted to the Coentrao role? Or Danilo is the back up?

Did that just happen? or are Real Madrid pulling a great Aprils fools joke?

Never seen him play so I can't comment, but this is yet another example of Madrid not trusting their youth for a shiny new toy.

He's much better than Carvajal ( who's meh to begin with ) if what i have seen for Porto and Brazil is any indication.

Only about a dozen games mind.

Carvajal is meh ? Lol. Regarding Danilo, he'll find it hard at Madrid IMO. Dani is a fan favorite... This transfer reminds me of Coentrao's tbh.

There is no way in hell, he is being signed to replace Carvajal or that Madrid don't trust him.

If anything, it is that he and Carvajal can now rotate and share some of the workload that Carvajal has had to carry since he came back.

This should be the end of Arbeloa btw.

Yes he is, but i'm talking in a general sense. Most fullbacks are pretty meh, the mere fact past it Alves is still one of the best says enough about that position.

It is the end for Arbeloa, but that means that Carvajal will be a bench warmer for Danilo, until(if) he outperforms him.

You really think he will rotate with Carvajal? He's being signed for 31m, that's quite a bit of money for a RB. I think he will start just because of this, and if Madrid are really spending 31m on a rotation player then Perez has really gone insane...

But when you signed Illaramendi he was supposed to be the heir to Xabi Alonso and Real Sociedad's "best player" and the reason he was so high in the table (when Griezmann was still playing for them). It's not unreasonable that Madrid would want to buy a key Spanish player for the future. Then he got injured and never quite lived up to the hype. It's different if you already have a fan favorite in the position.

It's not unreasonable, but what is this, his 3rd year here? Has he really ever been giving a solid and consistent chance? He's always been in that back-up role. Since Xabi left last summer, he has never even got a sniff at playing or even been considered.

What about Coentrao? All that money, for a back-up.
