Kill Bill would've been Tarantino's Magnum Opus, if it wasn't cut in two movies. 4 hour samurai revenge movie would've been an absolute epic not seen since Leone's Once Upon a Time in America. But this way they got double ticket price from a single movie. It wasn't a hack job like OUaTiA, which actually broke the greatest of directors, but I'm sure Tarantino regrets this move now.

Yea bro, but studios don't work like that -- releasing 4-hour length movies, so be realistic.

Yeah studios don't, but Tarantino could've insisted on it. I don't get the feeling Tarantino works to public acceptance, but for his own vision how ever ridiculous. In that way he's one of the last true film makers in Hollyfood, soon to be an ancient race.

I don't think that's available, other than the fake fan edit.

My bad. Was certain I watched it when I a few years ago at the place I was interning. Had to be a copy replicating it.

It will probably be re-released if the third film happens, which I hope it will. Would make so much sense given Maya Hawke being a great actress and the perfect age for the role.

Well one can hope. If I remember it correctly OUaTiA directors cut was released 16 years after the hack job, or 10 years after Leone's death. Exactly how many years it's now from Kill Bill vol 1. Lean, Leone, Kubrick, damn I miss the times of epic film. Where you got the feeling of a movie making, rather than money making you get now from pretty much every movie released.

Anyways finished it and as expected, the final hour was just incredible. I didn't like the first act other than Waltz's scenes. Wasn't a great build up if i am honest. Tarantino has done it better in his other films.

I was on the floor when that cinema scene happened where Brad Pitt tried to be Italian Laughing One of the funniest scenes i have seen.

Still a very good film. Probably not my top 3 Tarantino.

Django unchained next

Christoph Waltz literally can’t act. I give him no credit for that performance. All Tarantino.

If his acting in that movie is so great, then they should’ve given him an Oscar for Spectre too.

Spectre was awful though. His character was even worse than the film itself.

It doesn't really matter to me how good his character was. I just think Waltz is a bad actor that fits in Tarantino films.

In every single other film he's been terrible while acting the complete same way. Happy he's not in the new one.

Academy voters sure love overacting though. Rami Malek and Waltz rofl And now they're fucking both in the next bond film. Hang me.

It was his all-time performance for sure, and yea Tarantino probably pushed him a lot to get the most out of that character.

He's not that bad though Laughing . Thought he was decent in Django, as in Zero Theorem as well.

hmmm, as it turns out Blade Runner 2049 doesn't have that much rewatch value imo. Watching it for the first makes its pace and running time complement well with the mystery playing out. Knowing how the film goes though makes you feel that pace and running time.

I have it second in my decade list thus far, so i don't know if I'll drop it a place or two because films like Mad Max: Fury Road and Inside Llewyn Davis have better rewatch value. I'll see.

Watched Django Unchained. Fantastic film. The acting from everyone

My top 3 Tarantino is Kill Bill Vol 1, Django unchained and pulp fiction. Although i need to rewatch pulp fiction. I think inglorious basterds might be up there along with reservoir dogs though.

All ready for OUATIH on Friday Molenation

Amy (2015) and Cobain: Montage of Heck (2015) are two of the most haunting biographical documentaries I've ever seen.

They were two very very special talents, fame just became too much for both these two sensitive pure souls.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - 8.5

Really liked it. Leo and Brad are incredible and their chemistry is great. Might be Leo's best acting since Calvin Candie. Definitely best of Brad for a very long time.

For comparison' sake I have:

Inglorious Basterds - 9.1
Pulp Fiction - 8.9
Kill Bill Vol 1 - 8.8
Django Unchained - 8.6
Kill Bill Vol 2 - 8.3
The Hateful Eight - 8.3

Never seen Jackie Brown and Reservoir Dogs. Probably need to rewatch some of them and reconsider their ranking, it's been awhile. Although Inglorious Basterds is absolutely my favorite.

I loved it because it was so refreshing. Everything the visual, the pacing with the dramatic beats, the acting. Pretty cool little film.

The Safdie brothers, whom directed it, are releasing another film later this year. Hope it bangs as well https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5727208/

The OTT soundtrack, the ambient colours and the extended close up shots just added to the intensity. It was brilliantly made.

Also the dark humour lol.

It felt like this movie is actually 'real' and not a hollywood drama.
