As you please. I remember having read almost exactly that at an official site but can't prove it to you now.
Re: Fifa Ballon D'or - Who Will Be Top Three?
Top five is pretty clear in my mind:
Lionel Messi
Cristiano Ronaldo
Andres Iniesta
Andrea Pirlo
Iker Casillas
the likes of Mesut Ozil and Mario Gomez are missing indeed but hard to put them above the listed players.

In any other season Radamel Falcao's numbers alongwith a few other players would be Ballon d'Or hopefuls, but for now, getting into top5 seems a big ask for this season for Falcao,Gomez and RVP,etc....

1. Pirlo 2. Ronaldo 3. Iniesta
How it will end up:
Messi or Ronaldo, Pirlo out of the top 3 because he is not in RMadrid o Barcelona.

I thought that the award gained credit for that seeing as he wasnt eve Inters best player, that was milito. After all he did win Uefas player of the year, Serie A's player of the year etc...
I thought that Sneijder disnt have a great all around performance at WC. He would score a goal and then do nothong for the rest of the game.

Milito wasn't even in the shortlist so the award from the start look pretty wonky.
Anyway I think Cris will win. Would love it if Iker breaks the top three.

That took credit away from Ballon d'or but not Sneijder not winning it when he wasnt even the best player in his own team

Inter don't win the trophies they did without Sneijder that year. Holland don't reach the final without him either.
Players have done less and won the Balon D'Or in fact if it was still a france football award Sneijder would have won it. Milito wasn't even in the top 10 which proved it was a popularity contest from the start, Messi winning it just sort of confirmed it.

Individually that year messi was the best and most consistent. Do you watch Serie A regularly btw? Sneijder was crap at the start. Messi was consistent up till the end. In the WC Sneijder did a Ronaldo for most part and literally did nothing else bar his goals.
This season Messi will win it again, he is simply better than all be fore him. Even your preciosus Di Maria and Ronaldos shag buddy Marcelo agree. Every other person has had decent seasons, INDIVIDUALLY, Messi's season has never happened in history, top goal scorer in 5 compettiton, breaking the record for 4 of them. Please...it is clear for all to see.

he has a point. It was better when the ballon d'or was given to the player that deserved it most and the fifa world player of the year acted as the popularity contest. Although tbh, i didnt mind messi winning instead of sneijder, sneijder didnt impress me as much as he impressed other people. But then again, i didnt watch him that often
Point remains, its a fact sneijder would have won in the old format. Journalists had him as their favourite

Re: Fifa Ballon D'or - Who Will Be Top Three?
It was a credit in 09-10 that Messi broke the "WC/Euro winner HAS to win B d'or and WPOTY" hoodoo that existed. Players like Messi and Ronaldo do extraordinarily for entire seasons putting all comers to shame to see their work out done by 7 game wonders is an insult to their respective genius.

Re: Fifa Ballon D'or - Who Will Be Top Three?
Don't understand the Sneijder hate. He had a brilliant season with Inter Milan and was their best player, certainly most consistent. While Milito may have scored the goals, Sneijder put in great hours of work and provided himself as a genuine, trust-worthy creative outlet for Jose Mourinho. In the World Cup, he was also one of the best players (easily best player for the Dutch), and do not forget that he played two amazing balls to Robben in the final, one of which was with his "weaker" foot. Had those chances found the back of the net, who knows - he may have won it. There are two sides...

Re: Fifa Ballon D'or - Who Will Be Top Three?
Sneijder is an excellent player too bad injuries messed him up, in the 2008 season, he was easily Madrid's best player and the best in la liga as well. Madrid stretch Barcelona by 19 points or so in the league, he also had a good Euros with the Netherlands, it all came crashing down when Abou Diarra injured him in the Emirates Cup.
He picked up his form again in 2010 and would have won the Ballon D'Or in the old format, he was easily the best player that season, at his peak at Madrid he was better than Xavi and Iniesta in my opinion.

Statistically, it should be:
Defensive Contribution:
1. Ferdinand
2. Terry
3. Thiago Silva
Midfield Contribution:
1. Britton
2. Xavi
3. Busquets
Offensive Contribution:
1. Scholes
2. Yaya Toure
3. Iniesta
But it will be:
1. Messi
2. Ronaldo
3. Xavi

Sorry, I don't do statistics for goalkeepers because it's often the case that the best ones play for some of the worst teams so I could rate 50 goalkeepers and the best one could still be hidden from me, and I wouldn't like that.
